What Can We Accomplish in Five Years?

During the 2000 Millennium Summit, the United Nations convened to decide the global issues that need the most attention. The Millennium Development Goals were born: 

• Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
• Achieve universal primary education
• Promote gender equality and empower women
• Reduce child mortality rate
• Improve maternal health
• Combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases
• Ensure environmental sustainability
• Develop a global partnership for development

What can we do in America to help achieve these goals before the 2015 deadline arrives?
